Experience
Healthcare Research Insights draws on the experience of Ms. Champion in international healthcare consulting and as an executive in the pharmaceutical industry. Ms. Champion has a track record of conducting high-value scientific projects with tight timelines in epidemiology, clinical trial research, regulatory affairs, health economics and outcomes research, and scientific communications.
Before starting HCRI, Ms Champion was Director, Clinical Epidemiology in the AbbVie Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) Department. She was responsible for market assessments for acquisition and licensing decisions, and providing epidemiology input to regulatory filings, particularly pediatric development plans, and to pipeline decisions.
Previously, as Director of Scientific Communications within Abbott Global Pharmaceutical R&D, Ms. Champion was responsible for the development and implementation of clinical trial publication strategies. For hypertension, she was responsible for analysis, interpretation and communication of results from outcomes trials including INVEST, resulting in more than 60 presentations and 40 publications, many of which she co-authored.
Formerly, following the acquisition of Knoll Pharmaceuticals, she was responsible for integrating the Knoll cardiovascular products and their ongoing trials into Abbott Marketed Product Development.
Ms. Champion founded the Abbott International Health Economics and Outcomes Research Department. She was responsible for access, pricing and reimbursement for all ex-US pharmaceutical, hospital and nutritional products, including the successful launch of Kaletra, which became the leading HIV protease inhibitor.
Prior to joining Abbott, Ms. Champion was Worldwide Director of Socioeconomics for Aventis and Rhone-Poulenc Rorer for cardiovascular, thrombosis, gene therapy and hormone replacement products. A key member of the medical and marketing team for Lovenox, which became the leading low- molecular-weight heparin, she was responsible for global health economics, outcomes research, product pricing and reimbursement for an expanding list of indications.
Before joining industry, Annette led the Health Economics and Health Care Policy unit at Arthur D. Little, an international management consulting and research firm. She advised pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in strategy, marketing, pricing and reimbursement and provided management consulting services in strategic planning, M&A and marketing.
